PUBLIC NOTICE

The Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area Planning Agency  (MAPA) is amending its 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan to update projects, classifications and funding levels. The public comment period runs Dec. 11, 2025 to Jan. 4, 2026.

Updated every five years, the Metropolitan Transportation Plan projects the transportation needs for the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area for the next 25 years and includes a list of projects to meet those future transportation needs.

The plan covers Douglas and Sarpy Counties in Nebraska and the cities of Council Bluffs, Carter Lake, Crescent and McClelland in Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

The 2050 MTP takes a comprehensive approach toward addressing transportation in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area and incorporates elements from studies MAPA has completed during the past five to 10 years. The goal of the plan’s projections and proposed solutions are to increase the quality of life for area residents.

The monthly MAPA Board of Directors meeting scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 22, 2026, will serve as the public meeting for the amendment.
