Omaha Fashion Week has quickly become one of Omaha’s largest events. With two shows a year, one in the spring and one in the fall, OFW has earned its spot as the 4th largest fashion show in the country and has an impressive list of sponsors such as Tito’s Vodka, Develop Model Management, and Milan Laser Hair Removal. However, it would be impossible for all this to happen if it wasn’t for all of the volunteers OFW has gained over the years.

From makeup artists, hairdressers, to ticket sales, OFW has a long list of volunteer opportunities to get involved with. One makeup artist, Rachel Turman, has been with OFW for the last two years, and hopes for many more to come. This fall show she worked on models for 22 different designers alone, doing everything from the entire makeup look to quick touch ups before the models hit the runway.

“I had one designer, he had looks that were yellow, green, red, and blue, and he just let me do whatever I wanted. The designers that want to give me complete creative freedom, – I love that!” Turman said. “But then I also like looks, such as Dan (Richters)’s tonight who wanted all of his models to look like ‘a glazed doughnut’, and that was fun because I got to plaster highlight and glitter on them.”

Those who volunteer for OFW also get some great perks as well! Besides being able to say you were a part of the event and add your work to your portfolio, volunteers also get 20% off anything in OFW’s online shop, and 2 free tickets to see a show on a night that they aren’t volunteering.

If you want to get involved for the Spring 2023 show, keep an eye out for their volunteer applications at omahafashionweek.com.
