Iowa Courts Extend Coronavirus Order For Next 7 Months
The Iowa Supreme Court will continue to allow initial appearances via telephone or videoconferencing through June 30 under an order issued last week.
Chief Justice Susan Christensen issued the order Nov. 24, expanding upon an order issued Nov. 11. Civil court businesses other than jury trials are strongly encouraged to use videoconference or teleconference, and face masks remain required by Iowa courts.
Preliminary hearings, arraignments, personal appearances, bond reviews, pretrial release, guilty pleas, and other topics are also covered by the order, which includes a section on juvenile law, family law and appellate courts.
