Homestead Exemption Application Due Monday

Lincoln – The Nebraska Department of Revenue, Property Assessment Division, reminds property owners that the Nebraska Homestead Exemption Application, is due to their county assessor by Monday, July 1.

Form 458 is due on or before June 30, but since that is a Sunday in 2019, the application deadline is extended by one day, according to a department news release.

The State of Nebraska reimburses counties and other governmental subdivisions for the property taxes lost due to homestead exemptions.

In Nebraska, a homestead exemption is available to people over age 65, qualified disabled people and qualified disabled veterans and their widows or widower. Some categories are subject to household income limitations and residence valuation requirements.
