Heavican to Give Annual State of the Judiciary Address Jan. 22
Chief Justice Mike Heavican will give his annual State of the Judiciary address to the Legislature at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020, in the Legislative Chamber of the State Capitol.
Nebraska Educational Television will air the speech on NET2 as part of its regular legislative coverage which can be viewed online at bit.ly/37TQ7LQ.
Heavican gives the State of the Judiciary address at the invitation of Speaker of the Legislature Jim Scheer. This address is the chief justice’s opportunity to highlight the work of the Judicial Branch and provide relevant information directly to lawmakers.
Heavican will provide an overview of the activities of the judicial branch of government including projects involving the state’s 146 judges and over 1,500 non-judicial employees in courthouses and probation offices across the state. The State of the Judiciary has been part of the agenda of the Unicameral since 2008.
