SECTION I - Opening Procedures
Notice of the meeting was given in advance by the publication and/or posting in accordance with the Board approved method for giving notice of meetings. Notice of this meeting was published in the public notices section of the February 15, 2024 edition of The Daily Record and on their website as well as on the district website. Notice of this meeting was given in advance to all members of the Board of Education. The Secretary of the Board maintains a list of the news media requesting notification of meetings and advance notification to the listed media of the time and place of the meeting and the subjects to be discussed at this meeting was provided. Availability of the agenda was communicated in the publicized notice and a current copy of the Agenda was maintained as stated in the publicized notice. All proceedings of the Board of Education, except as may be hereinafter noted, were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public.
1.1 Call Meeting to Order - Rick Hollendieck called the meeting to order.
1.2 Roll Call - Board members present were: Greg Beach, Mark Hauptman, Dawn Stock, Rick Hollendieck, and Kyle Janssen. Board members absent were: Blake Turpen. Others present were:Travis Lightle, Mike Sortino, Andrew Rinaldi, Russ Olsen, Andy Boone, Shawn Hoppes, Pat Phelan, Caroline Foresman, and guests.
1.3 Pledge of Allegiance - The board recited the pledge of allegiance.
1.4 Approval of Minutes - Motion by Kyle Janssen, seconded by Mark Hauptman, to approve the minutes of February 12, 2024. A roll call vote was taken - Blake Turpen, absent; Kyle Janssen, yes; Rick Hollendieck, yes; Greg Beach, yes; Mark Hauptman, yes; and Dawn Stock, yes. Motion carried. Yeas 5; Nays 0; Absent 1.
1.5 Recognition of Visitors - none.
SECTION II - Matters Requiring Board Action
2.1 Approval of Resignations and Contracts - Motion by Mark Hauptman, seconded by Greg Beach to accept the resignations as stated effective at the end of the school year.. A roll call vote was taken - Kyle Janssen, abstain; Rick Hollendieck, yes; Blake Turpen, absent; Mark Hauptman, abstain; Dawn Stock, yes; and Greg Beach, yes.
Motion carried. Yeas 5; Nays 0; Absent 1.
Motion by Kyle Janssen, seconded by Dawn Stock, to approve the contracts as stated.
A roll call vote was taken - Dawn Stock, yes; Greg Beach, yes; Mark Hauptman, yes; Blake Turpen, absent; Kyle Janssen, yes; and Rick Hollendieck, yes. Motion carried. Yeas 5; Nays 0; Absent 1.
2.2 Consider Final Approval of Board Goals – Motion by Mark Hauptman, seconded by Dawn Stock for 2nd round approval for the 2024 board goals. A roll call vote was taken - Rick Hollendieck, yes; Kyle Janssen, yes; Blake Turpen, absent; Dawn Stock, yes; Mark Hauptman, yes; Greg Beach, yes.
Motion carried. Yeas 5; Nays 0; Absent 1.
2.3 Consider Approval of Out-of-State Trip Requests - Motion by Dawn Stock, seconded by Greg Beach to approve the out-of-state field trip for the Gretna East Jazz Band. A roll call vote was taken - Blake Turpen, absent; Kyle Janssen, yes; Rick Hollendieck, yes; Greg Beach, yes; Mark Hauptman, yes; and Dawn Stock, yes. Motion carried. Yeas 5; Nays 0; Absent 1.
2.4 Consider Final Approval of Calendar 2024-2025 - Motion by Dawn Stock, seconded by Kyle Janssen for 2nd round approval for the 2024-2025 school calendar.. A roll call vote was taken - Rick Hollendieck, yes; Blake Turpen, absent; Kyle Janssen, yes; Dawn Stock, yes; Greg Beach, yes; and Mark Hauptman, yes.
Motion carried. Yeas 5; Nays 0; Absent 1.
2.5 Consider Final Approval of Updated Policy 9320 - Motion by Mark Hauptman, seconded by Greg Beach for 2nd round approval of the updated Policy 9320. A roll call vote was taken - Kyle Janssen, yes; Rick Hollendieck, yes; Blake Turpen, absent; Mark Hauptman, yes; Dawn Stock, yes; and Greg Bach, yes. Motion carried. Yeas 5; Nays 0; Absent 1.
2.6 Consider Approval of Elementary Boundaries - Motion by Dawn Stock, seconded by Kyle Janssen to approve the elementary boundaries as presented. A roll call vote was taken - Mark Hauptman, yes; Kyle Janssen, yes; Greg Beach, yes; Rick Hollendick, yes; Blake Turpen, absent; and Dawn Stock, yes. Motion carried. Yeas 5; Nays 0; Absent 1.
2.7 Discuss, Consider and Take all Necessary Action with Regard to Possible Approval of Authorization to Issue Series 2024 General Obligation Bonds - Motion by Dawn Stock, seconded by Mark Hauptman to approve the authorization to issue Series 2024 general obligation bonds. A roll call vote was taken - Dawn Stock, yes; Greg Beach, yes; Mark Hauptman, yes; Blake Turpen, absent; Kyle Janssen, yes; and Rick Hollendick, yes.
Motion carried. Yeas 5; Nays 0; Absent 1.
SECTION III – Reports
3.1 Construction Report - Mike Kros presented the latest construction report.
3.2 Gretna Crossing Park YMCA Update - Brandon Brugger, manager at Gretna Grossing YMCA, presented an update.
3.4 Gretna Public Schools Foundation Report - Holly Radke presented a report on the status of the Foundation.
3.5 Legislative Update Report - Burke Harr presented a review on the current legislative bills.
SECTION IV - Announcements and Dates
4.1 Set Next Board Meeting Date - The next regular school board meeting will be held on Monday, March 11, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Administrative Offices.
4.2 Adjournment - Motion by Greg Beach, seconded by Dawn Stock, to adjourn the meeting. A roll call vote was taken - Kyle Janssen, yes; Rick Hollendieck, yes; Blake Turpen, absent; Mark Hauptman, yes; Dawn Stock, yes; and Greg Beach, yes.
