Nebraska courts were ahead of the curve when pandemic struck.
The development of a pandemic bench book last year established a plan for how courts could continue to operate in Nebraska during an outbreak like COVID-19.
On Monday, Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts praised Nebraska Supreme Court Chief Justice Michael G. Heavican for his foresight and said that several other states have followed Nebraska’s example.
“This is one of the areas where Nebraska has been a leader in the nation,” Ricketts said. “Nebraska is a leader in how you run courts in the pandemic.”
