Fundraising Professionals to Recognize Philanthropic Efforts With Annual Awards
The Association of Fundraising Professionals – Nebraska Chapter will give seven awards to those who have made use of their time and money to make a difference within the Nebraska community.
The awards will be given during a luncheon next Wednesday for National Philanthropy Day.
The honorees are:
• Jack Campbell – Lifetime Achievement: Campbell served 44 years as trustee at the Cooper Foundation and on the boards of statewide and local organizations.
• Omaha Steaks – Outstanding Corporation: Omaha Steaks and the Simon family have contributed more than $30 million in philanthropic support in Omaha over the last decade.
• David Spence – Outstanding Emerging Philanthropist: His own cancer diagnosis in 1988 has led to his continued devotion of time and talents to raise money for cancer research as a survivor.
• Braxton Anderson – Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy: At only 10 years old, Braxton’s handful of quarters donated to a food program in Lincoln inspired others, leading his efforts to raise $16,000 and counting.
• Kim and Karen Hawkins and Family – Family in Philanthropy: Three generations of the Hawkins family have given their time and money toward caring for families in the Omaha community.
• Nick Cusick – Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser: Cusick has served fundraising for nonprofit organizations, working in community service and donating more than $1 million to nonprofits.
• Scott and Cindy Heider –Outstanding Philanthropists: As a nominee of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands, Scott and Cindy Heider have volunteered their time and support throughout the Omaha community.
AFP’s National Philanthropy luncheon will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Embassy Suites in La Vista. Tickets to the event are $50 and available at afpnebraska.org.
