Four Apply for 6th Judicial District Bench
Four candidates submitted their names for consideration for a vacancy for the District Court of the 6th Judicial District.
Theodore P. Arndt of Elkhorn, Pamela L. Hopkins of Fontanelle; Brendan M. Kelly of Omaha; and Melinda B. Wicks of Sioux City, Iowa, applied for the vacancy.
The 6th Judicial District consists of Burt, Cedar, Dakota, Dixon, Dodge, Thurston and Washington counties. The Judicial Nominating Commission will hold a public hearing in the district courtroom of the Dakota County Courthouse, 1601 Broadway St., in Dakota City, beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9.
At the hearing, the commission will receive information on the qualifications of candidates to fill the vacancy in the office of district judge due to the resignation of Judge Paul J. Vaughan. The primary place of office for the judicial vacancy should be Dakota City. The public is welcome to attend the hearing and present information concerning candidates for the judicial opening.
