Eleven More Counties Subject to DHHS Directed Health Measures
Several counties in central Nebraska are included under directed health measures after community transmission of the coronavirus resulted in a death last Friday.
The new health order went into effect at 6 a.m. Saturday in Hall, Hamilton, Merrick, York, Seward, Butler and Polk counties.
Additionally, another directed health measure went into effect at 9 a.m. Sunday in Burt, Cuming, Madison and Stanton counties after a resident of a long-term care facility in Norfolk fell ill.
Directed health measures are in effect through May 6 for those counties. They are also in effect in Douglas, Sarpy and Cass counties through April 30 and Lancaster, Dodge, Saunders and Washington counties through May 6. Local officials in Douglas, Lancaster, Sarpy and Cass counties have also issued directed health measures.
The orders require restaurants and bars to close dining areas and to move to takeout, delivery and curbside service. Schools must be closed to students, gatherings in excess of 10 people are prohibited and subject to law enforcement.
Most businesses are permitted to remain open under, and grocery stores and other essential services will continue to operate.
Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts said the orders are now following health department jurisdictions, not educational service units.
