FOURTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT
The District Court of Douglas County, Nebraska, seeks qualified citizens for appointment to a four-year term on the Board of Mental Health of the Fourth Judicial District of the State of Nebraska, County of Douglas. Pursuant to Nebraska Revised Statutes §71-915 (Reissue 2018), the Presiding District Judge appoints the Board’s members, who include a lawyer licensed to practice law in Nebraska, and any two of the following, but not more than one from each category: a physician; a psychologist; a psychiatric nurse; a licensed clinical social worker or a licensed independent clinical social worker; a licensed independent mental health practitioner who is not a social worker; or a layperson with a demonstrated interest in mental-health and substance-dependency issues. The Presiding Judge also appoints at least one alternate for each Board member. The Board meets each Tuesday and Thursday in a variety of locations in Douglas County. Members of the Board are compensated at an hourly rate to be determined by the Presiding District Judge, but in any event not less than $50.00 for each hearing of the Board.
Qualified citizens should submit a letter of interest, along with a resume, to the District Court Administrator, Douglas County District Court, Hall of Justice, Ste 500, Omaha, Nebraska 68183-0001, or by email to applicants@dc4dc.com by not later than Friday, August 11, 2023.
