Douglas County Confirms First Case of West Nile Virus for 2019
The first human case of West Nile Virus in Douglas County for 2019 has been confirmed. The individual, a man over 50 years of age, was not hospitalized.
In addition to the human case, high populations of mosquitoes and multiple sample groups of infected mosquitoes have been found at a monitoring site near Zorkinsky Lake Park and Seymour Smith Park.
Late summer and early fall are typically when West Nile virus cases begin to increase.
