What are your connections to the community?
I grew up in Omaha, attending St. Robert’s and Marian, graduating from a sister school of Duchesne in Illinois. I came back to Nebraska and attend both UNL, UNO and Creighton University. I stayed in Omaha to raise my three children and remain a member of St. Robert’s today. After law school, I worked in the Domestic Violence Unit as a Deputy County Attorney and started my own law firm in 2008. I am a founding partner of Reagan, Melton and Delaney, LLP. I support many non-profit organizations such as Volunteer Lawyers Project, Big Brothers Big Sisters and EPS. I am Vice Chair of the Omaha/Douglas County Building Commission, serve on the Criminal Justice System Management Committee and have served the community on the Omaha City Council for the last eight years.
What experience do you bring to the office?
As a member of the Omaha City Council for the last eight years, I have developed relationships with residents, neighborhoods and city directors and staff. As a former prosecutor, I understand the importance of public safety, the workings of the criminal justice system and the needs of victims. As a Family Law attorney and mediator, I am experienced in both negotiation and fighting for what is right.
What would one of your top priorities be?
One of my top priorities is public safety. This includes providing first responders and law enforcement with the training and resources they need to keep our city safe. But also ensuring that our roads and infrastructure are maintained and improved.
What motivated you to run for public office?
I enjoyed serving the community as a Deputy County Attorney. Joining the City Council allowed me to continue serving our city. I want my children and other young people to choose to raise their families here and look forward to being a part of the growth and development of Omaha.
What’s the biggest issue that Omaha faces?
The biggest issue Omaha faces is economic recovery and development due to the Covid pandemic. We need to ensure that the jobs lost are replaced; that families do not lose their homes; and all our businesses are able to recover and prosper once again.
Is there anything else you want to tell voters?
I have enjoyed serving District 7 and all the residents of Omaha for the last eight years. I try to have a common-sense approach to the issues and challenges we face in our city. My experiences as a mother, prosecutor, attorney, mediator, and Councilperson make me uniquely qualified to lead and guide the City Council on behalf of my constituents for the next four years.
