What are your connections to the community?
We've lived here 8.5 years after moving around the country several times. Our family is deeply rooted in Millard schools with sports and show choir. I've served on the boards of Foster Grandparents (through ENOA) for many years, as well as Omaha Senior Resource Group and volunteered in our schools.
What experience do you bring to the office?
As a mediator and conflict coach, my job is to help people communicate so that they can see each others' positions, communicate their own, and find common ground to create creative solutions.
What would one of your top priorities be?
Encouraging more personal responsibility. It shouldn't be the government's job to tell people how to live their lives. The government should provide a broad framework for guidance, and offer information and tools to be successful. We also need to clean up ordinances that are unnecessary or that make things like opening a business difficult without any discernible benefits.
What motivated you to run for public office?
Local politics have the most direct effect on our lives. Getting involved locally provides the opportunity to affect these issues directly and immediately.
What’s the biggest issue that Omaha faces?
Recovering from 2020. We need businesses strengthened, schools open and mandates to end.
Is there anything else you want to tell voters?
Of all the places we have lived, Omaha is simply the best. Like every place, it's not perfect, but when people are willing to come together to figure out ways to make it better - it gets closer! My greatest strength is doing just that - working with people to create greater understanding so they can move toward a common goal.
