What are your connections to the community?
I spent much of my adulthood working to improve the lives of Nebraskans. I started with an internship with former US Senator Ben Nelson that evolved into a staff assistant position, and later his press assistant in Washington DC. I also worked with both State Senators Mike McDonnell and Matt Hansen as a legislative aide. Currently I work for Nebraska Children and Families Foundation as their Donor Services Coordinator.
What experience do you bring to the office?
My experience in both federal and state government as well as my work in the nonprofit sector give me a well rounded approach to policy.
What would one of your top priorities be?
One of my top priorities is creating an alternative transportation system with designated bike and scooter lanes that traverse the city so individuals who do not have a personal vehicle are able to access the rest of Omaha and not continue to be isolated due to transportation restrictions in a city that is so heavily car oriented.
What motivated you to run for public office?
My daughter and the need for Omaha to see change and become an inclusive community. The events of 2020 have shown how divided we still are as a community and that we need public officials who bring a more holistic approach to government as well as bringing community members into the policy process to unite and heal our city.
What’s the biggest issue that Omaha faces?
Division and racism. Our city is still divided due to lack of transportation and mobility inequality. We need to do more to bring all districts together and to be as accessible as possible. When every resident is able to access all of Omaha, then we become a more united city.
Is there anything else you want to tell voters?
I will bring a fresh approach to Omaha city government. I have an extensive background in policy and am able to work with various groups and organizations. I strive to have all voices, both in my district and in the community, to be heard and to be part of the policy process.
