What are your connections to the community?
I grew up in Omaha and found a career here. With the swing dancing non-profit Omaha Jitterbugs, I've been an active volunteer and occasional instructor since I was 18. I serve on my neighborhood association board, and I've volunteered my time as a Nebraska Democratic Party officer since 2018.
What experience do you bring to the office?
I'm experienced in creating change in large organizations and I have a passion for making systems and organizations better. I know how to lead in a team setting and voice concerns on behalf of people not in the room.
What would one of your top priorities be?
We need to work on attracting and retaining talent here in Omaha. Employers want to do business in a city with a strong labor force, which creates economic opportunity and lifts our community up.
What motivated you to run for public office?
Back in 2016, I had that moment when I realized that democracy doesn't run on autopilot. It only works when good people get involved. Running for office involves a lot of sacrifice and hard work, but it's something I'm willing to do since I know I'm capable of it.
What’s the biggest issue that Omaha faces?
While recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic is the most pressing issue, I think dealing with brain drain, working through issues with systemic inequality, and environmental sustainability are big, complex issues that will take a lot of work to help solve.
Is there anything else you want to tell voters?
I want to let people know that I really care about this stuff. For me, it's about public service, it's about good stewardship of the public trust. I want to help my district and help make Omaha the best city it can be.
