PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

AMENDMENT TO THE URBAN CORE

REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT PLAN

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Omaha, Nebraska, will meet and hold a public hearing on September 16, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM in Legislative Chambers, 1819 Farnam Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68183 for the purpose of hearing testimony for:

The redevelopment plan lays out a vision for a revitalized, pedestrian-friendly, city center. The greater downtown area will be a place where major employers would locate, commercial businesses would provide goods and services for dining, entertainment and leisure, and residents would find homes that are not far from work, fun or leisure activities. The redevelopment projects identified in the plan will further a development environment that can bring back lost jobs, provide affordable housing and ensure the successful redevelopment of the urban core.

The Planning Board recommended approval of this Redevelopment Project Plan at the August 6, 2025 public hearing.

The Redevelopment projects authorized as part of the redevelopment plan include: transit and mobility created by the modern streetcar; affordable housing and development; and related and supportive mobility infrastructure and public amenities. The redevelopment plan specifically described and authorized the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of a modern streetcar as a redevelopment project, funded through the use of tax increment financing, pursuant to the Community Development Law.

A copy of said plan is available for public inspection in the City Clerk’s Office.
