“Pursuant to Chapter 34, Article VI, Division 3 of the Omaha Municipal Code, you are hereby notified that:
It shall be the duty of the occupant, as well as the duty of the owner, of any lot or land or real estate in the city to clear all ice and snow from the sidewalks adjoining the said lot, land or real estate within 24 hours after the city has declared that snow removal operation on the city’s major streets are complete. The failure or refusal of any owner or occupant to fulfill this duty and to clear all ice and snow and other obstructions from the sidewalks has been declared unlawful and may be punishable pursuant to Omaha Municipal Code Sec. 1-10. It is also unlawful for any person to place snow or ice upon any street or alley right-of-way from private driveways, sidewalks, lots, or other private property.
Pursuant to Omaha Municipal Code Sec. 34-335 the City of Omaha has the authority to clear the sidewalks of the hazard created by snow and ice. The expense the City incurs for removing snow and ice accumulations upon sidewalks may be assessed against the adjoining property, at the following rates:
Amount of Snow in inches Cost per Lineal (running) Foot of Sidewalk to remove*
Trace (or ice) to 5.99-inches $3.45 per Lineal Foot (includes 15% administrative fee)
6-inches to 11.99 inches $11.50 per Lineal Foot (includes 15% administrative fee)
12.00-inches or greater $8.63 per Lineal Foot (includes 15% administrative fee)
*Based on a maximum standard residential sidewalk width of 5 foot. If sidewalk is greater than
5 foot wide a multiplier will be added.
Additionally, if it has been determined that a property has been in violation of Chapter 34, Article VI, Division 3 within a previous 36 month period, an additional penalty of $150.00 will be assessed for a second violation and $300.00 will be assessed for a third and each subsequent violation. The City of Omaha Public Works Department thanks the City for their cooperation in clearing the sidewalks.”

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Omaha, Nebraska, will hold public hearings on October 31, 2023, beginning at 2:00 PM in Legislative Chambers, 1819 Farnam Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68183, for the purpose of hearing testimony for:
An ordinance authorizing the issuance of a purchase order to KONE, Inc. in the estimated annual amount of $35,720.00, for Elevator Maintenance Service to be utilized by the Facilities Management Division, to be effective for a period of 12 months and is extendable for four (4) one-year periods at the City’s sole discretion; to provide for payments from appropriations of more than one year in accordance with Section 5.17 of the Home Rule Charter of 1956, as amended; to provide for payments from a specific account.
An ordinance to approve a Streetscape Maintenance Agreement between the City of Omaha and Menard, Inc., concerning the allowable streetscape and landscape improvements in the right-of-way and the private maintenance and liability obligations thereof for the site at 20540 Cumberland Drive; to authorize the execution of said Agreement.
An ordinance to amend Section 23 - 177 of the Omaha Municipal Code concerning employment classifications by adding the employment classification entitled Fleet Maintenance Master Technician with an hourly pay range of $31.00 to $37.67; to repeal Section 23 - 177 as heretofore existing.
An ordinance to amend Section 23-177 of the Omaha Municipal Code by changing the title of the employment classification known as Automotive Mechanic to Fleet Maintenance Technician and changing the hourly pay range of the renamed classification from a range of $25.33 to $31.27 to a range of $25.98 to $32.79; to repeal Section 23-177 as heretofore existing.
An ordinance to approve an amendment to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Omaha and the Omaha City Employees, Local 251, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO; to amend Article 20, Section 6 of the Collective Bargaining Agreements which addresses ASE Certification Pay by replacing the language in the current Agreement with the attached revised version; to provide that any ordinances of the City of Omaha, and any rules and regulations promulgated thereunder, which are in conflict with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement shall not be applicable to those employees in the Bargaining Unit described in Article 1, Section 1, of said Collective Bargaining Agreement; to provide authorization for the Mayor to execute and the City Clerk to attest her signature.
An ordinance approving an Agreement by and between the City of Omaha and Premier Biotech, LLC, for drug and alcohol testing of City employees and prospective employees as required by the Department of Transportation and all other employees and prospective employees under the City of Omaha Alcohol and Drug Policy and Procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements; which Agreement involves the payment of money from appropriations of more than one (1) year as provided in Section 5.17 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Omaha, 1956, as amended for a period from August 1, 2023 through July 31, 2024; to provide funds from the Human Resources Department Fund 11111, Organization No. 105011.
An ordinance to approve an Agreement between the City of Omaha and Omaha Public Schools for the City to provide, through its assignment, up to ten (10) Associate School Resource Officers and marked police cruisers, subject to the availability of such cruisers and the School District’s needs, to specifically designated locations, involving appropriations of more than one fiscal year in conformity with Section 5.17 of the Home Rule Charter, to perform police work within the District with each Associate School Resource Officer working no more than 28 hours per week while school is in session during the regular school year, from the first day of the semester of August, 2023 and ending on July 31, 2024; reimbursement from the Omaha Public Schools to the City will be in the amount of $38.00 per hour for each officer for the 2023 - 2024 school year.
An ordinance in accordance with Section 5.10 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Omaha, 1956, as amended, to transfer $9,555,824.00 in unencumbered appropriations in the 2024 Budget of the City of Omaha from the Wage Adjustment account to the City Police Department; and to fix the effective date hereof to be immediately upon passage in accordance with Section 2.12 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Omaha, 1956, as amended.
An ordinance to approve a Professional Services Agreement involving appropriations of more than one year in conformity with Section 5 .17 of the Home Rule Charter with First National Bank of Omaha, to provide Banking services for the City of Omaha for a period of five years from November 15, 2023 until November 15, 2028, with two one-year options to renew at the sole discretion of the City of Omaha.
An ordinance to amend Chapter 20, Article III of the Omaha Municipal Code, entitled “Offenses Against the Public Peace,” by adding Section 20-51 to provide for a prohibition of the possession of unfinished firearm frames and firearm receivers; the prohibition of the manufacturing or building of firearms from a ghost gun kit.
An ordinance to amend Chapter 20, Article III of the Omaha Municipal Code, entitled “Offenses Against the Public Peace,” by adding Section 20-50 to provide for a prohibition of the manufacturing, transfer, use, and possession of trigger activator devices that accelerate the rate of fire of a semiautomatic firearm.

This meeting will have video conference capability. Proposed agenda kept continually current shall be available for public inspection in the Omaha/Douglas Civic Center at the Office of the City Clerk, but the Council shall have the right to modify the agenda to include items of an emergency nature only at such public meeting when convened. NOTICE OF INVITATION FOR BID (IFB)
The Regional Metropolitan Transit Authority of Omaha, d/b/a/ Metro is seeking qualified contractors to provide Snow Removal and Ice Management Services, for Metro owned properties to include, the 2222 Cuming Campus, Transit Centers, ORBT Stations and bus shelters at various locations around Omaha, Nebraska.
Metro will receive sealed bids for that purpose, until November 14, 2023, 2:00 p.m. Central Time, (“Submission Deadline”). Proposals not received by Metro as of the Submission Deadline will not be considered responsive and will not be opened. Bids not meeting specified delivery and methods of submittal will not be considered responsive and will not be opened. Metro reserves the right to extend the Submission Deadline by issuing an Addendum. The full IFB and related documents maybe found at www. ometro.com.
There will be one (1) Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference: on November 2, 2023, at 11:00am.
