Call to Order - Roll Call – Open Meetings Act
Mayor Zac Johns called the regular monthly meeting to order on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. In attendance were City Council Members Clint Adams, Kaye Bridgeford and Josh Dowding. Council Member Shane Pekny was absent. City Clerk Mindi Laaker identified the Open Meetings Act location that is available to the public.

Street Closure and Event Application
Bennington Founder’s Day, Saturday September 28 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Bennington Chamber of Commerce – Felicia Weaver
156th and Warehouse Streets East along North Second Street to Allen Street
Motion by Dowding, second by Adams to approve closure as presented. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Neumeyer Farm Park
The parking lot and some sidewalks have been poured.
Motion by Bridgeford, second by Dowding to approve Blade Master’s Pay Application #5 totaling $150,682.14. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
There were no comments regarding Phase II: US HUD Community Project Funding Grant Update.
2024-2025 Budget Review
Mayor Johns reviewed highlighted points emailed from City Accountant Gene Garrelts.
Review One & Six Year Street Plan
A draft One & Six Year Street Plan was reviewed in preparation for approval at the September Council meeting.
Resolution 2024-04 Approval of the Governing Body to the Mayor to Authorize and Sign the Annual Certification of Program Compliance to Nebraska Board of Public Roads Classification and Standards 2024
Motion by Adams, second by Bridgeford to approve the Nebraska Board of Public Roads Classification and Standards 2024 Signing of Resolution No. 2024-04. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Library, Police, Public Works, Office and Project Tracker Reports
All monthly reports are on file in the City Office.
Public Comments – A thank you was given to all those who helped out in the aftermath of the July 31 wind storm.

Mayor Zac Johns called the budget meeting to order on Monday, July 29, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. In attendance were City Council Members Clint Adams, Kaye Bridgeford, and Shane Pekny. Council Member Josh Dowding was absent. Mindi Laaker identified the Open Meetings Act location that is available to the public.
Budget Presentations, Discussions and Review
Mayor Zac Johns and Department Heads gave an overview of the budget. Conversations also focused on Neumeyer Farm Park and the Public Works Building.

Call to Order - Roll Call – Open Meetings Act
Mayor Zac Johns called the meeting to order on Monday, August 12 at 5:05 p.m. City Council members in attendance were Clint Adams, Kaye Bridgeford, Josh Dowding and Mayor Zac Johns.
School Board members in attendance were Jeremy Dick, Tim Dreessen, Kara Neuverth, Steve Shannon, Allyson Slobotski and Superintendent Aaron Plas.
Also in attendance were Assistant Superintendent of Operations Matt Blomenkamp, Director of Secondary Education Jimmy Feeney, Police Chief Drew Hilscher, District Secretary Jodi McCoy and City Clerk Mindi Laaker.
The Open Meetings Act location that is available for the public was identified.
Items for Discussion included:
• Future School Facilities, Site Map and Growth Projections,
• City Economic Development Plan,
• City Infrastructure Projects,
• New City of Bennington Residential, Commercial and Industrial Developments,
• Park/Green Space Development Plans - Update and Review of Plan, and
• Future Collaborations.
