Chamber Rolls Out Free Book Summaries as Member Perk
The Greater Omaha Chamber announced that members now have free access to book summaries to help them learn to be successful as business experts.
Chamber members receive access to three book summaries a month, chosen by chamber staff, from Readitfor.me, a book summary service for entrepreneurs, executives and business coaches.
The service essentially boils down business books into podcast episodes, allowing the content to be much more quickly reviewed.
“We can’t manufacture more time, but we can make choices about how we spend it,” said Lynda Shafer, who works in leadership development at the Greater Omaha Chamber. “Readitfor.me is for everyone, but really appeals to those who are curious about everything – and especially seek leadership, business and management tools – but may find reading several 400-page business books a month daunting.”
General pricing for Readitfor.me starts at $19 per month for access to the service’s full library of book summaries. The site values the three-book-a-month service at $99 a year per person.
Shafer said Greater Omaha Chamber members can sign up to provide access to the full library for 10 people for $300 a year.
“If you’re a team leader, I’d suggest tapping into Readitfor.me to select books your whole team can enjoy and discuss, because, regardless of the type of leader you are, learning together creates tangible takeaways,” Shafer said. “We’re hearing our members are very satisfied with their no-cost access and are pleased with the high quality of the summaries.”
The Greater Omaha Chamber’s three picks for July are “The Relationship Edge: The Key to Strategic Influence and Selling Success” by Jerry Acuff, “The Challenger Sale: Taking Control of the Customer Conversation” by Matthew Dixon and Brent Adamson and “Questions That Sell: The Powerful Process for Discovering What Your Customer Really Wants” by Paul Cherry.
Each title features a short video and/or audio summary as well as a text summary. Many include visual elements and could be used as lunch-and-learn programs.
Shafer said the past books would drop off the service as new book summaries are added. Currently, picks for May and June are also available on the website.
“If you’ve always wanted to read the world’s best business books, but just didn’t have time, then this is the benefit for you,” the chamber said on its website.
