Candidate Filing Window Officially Opens for 2020 Primary Elections
Lincoln – In case it’s somehow escaped your attention, election season is quickly approaching.
Nebraska Secretary of State Robert Evnen announced candidates can begin filing documents for the 2020 elections starting today, Dec. 2.
Incumbents and nonincumbents running in multi-county districts or state or federal offices can find instructions and filing fee information at www.sos.ne.gov.
Current office holders must file their candidacy in the primary by Feb. 18, 2020. New filers have until March 2, 2020, to file for office. The primary will be May 12, 2020. Nebraska’s general election will be Nov. 3, 2020.
“Anyone considering a candidacy should check with the Accountability and Disclosure Commission about the forms required to be filed and the rules that should be followed,” Evnen advised prospective candidates.
