The U.S. Department of Labor recently recognized four Nebraska-based companies for their commitment to hiring veterans.

Berry Law and Persevus were awarded platinum medallions from the Dept. of Labor’s HIRE Vets program, while ALLO and Executive Airborne Solutions received gold medallions.

The awards were given as part of the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employment American Military Veterans Act, or HIRE Vets. The awards highlight employers who commit to hiring and professionally developing veterans.

“Veterans are our country’s greatest natural resource,” said Berry Law CEO John S. Berry Sr., himself a U.S. Army veteran. “We reach out to hire veterans not just to honor their service, but because they are generally great at providing an immediate positive impact to the team.”

Berry Law and Persevus also earned platinum medallions last year, and this is the second gold medallion for Executive Airborne Solutions.

“Veterans bring adaptability, leadership, teamwork, and a strong work ethic to unique stressful situations, as well as the core values we all shared as members of the military which are critical to the success of our small business,” said John Norris, president and CEO of EAS.

Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts offered his congratulations to the four companies at a ceremony at the State Capitol last Thursday.

“The companies that we’re going to recognize here are receiving this award because of their dedication to hiring and training veterans, to helping develop veterans’ leadership skills, their dedication to integrating veterans into the workforce and for providing tuition assistance,” Ricketts said. “We’re very excited to recognize these companies who have done so much to be able to get our veterans back into the workforce and, frankly, also keep them here in Nebraska.”

Berry Law specializes in criminal defense and personal injury law, while also representing veterans with disabilities nationwide. The firm has offices in Lincoln, Omaha and Seward.

Persevus, founded in Omaha in 2016, matches skilled veterans seeking careers with businesses seeking front-line employees. Executive Airborne Solutions of Bellevue provides systems engineering and integration solutions to the federal government. ALLO is a regional telecommunications company that specializes in fiber telephone, long distance, broadband, internet and television to residents and businesses across Nebraska and Colorado.
