NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Monday, September 23, 2024, a special board meeting of the Bennington Board of Education will be held at the Bennington Public Schools Board Room. The agenda for the meeting will be kept continually current and available for public inspection at the office of the Superintendent of Schools.

Posting Information- Notice of place and time for the hearing along with the proposed budget was advertised in the Daily Record on September 4, 2024, meeting all requirements including being published at least five days prior to the hearing. Notices were also posted on all Bennington Public School buildings three days prior to the hearing date.

 

Attendance Taken at 6:01 PM. Jeremy Dick: Present, Tim Dreessen: Present, Kara Neuverth: Present, Kristi Ryan: Present, Steve Shannon: Present, Allyson Slobotski: Present.

 

I.       Call Special Public Budget Hearing to Order- President Allyson Slobotski called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m., noting the meeting is governed by the Open Meetings Act. The Board of Education makes available at least one current copy of the Open Meetings Act posted in the meeting room at a location accessible to members of the public.

 

II.     Presentation of 2024-2025 Budget- Dr. Plas provided a comprehensive review of the proposed 2024-25 budget including information on growth, budgeted expenses, and proposed tax levy.

 

III.   Conduct Public Hearing on 2024-2025 Budget- Two members of the public were present to speak.

I.       Call Meeting to Order- President Allyson Slobotski called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m., noting the meeting is governed by the Open Meetings Act. II.     Public Forum- No members of the public were present to speak.

 

III.   Consent Agenda (Note: Items on the consent agenda are considered routine and will be enacted under one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these items at the meeting unless a Board Member requests an item removed from the agenda for separate action.)

A. Review 2024-25 Budget Projections and Timelines- Key budget items were highlighted and the Board was able to ask questions, make statements, and discuss the proposed 2024-25 budget as presented.

B. Executive Session to Discuss Pending Litigation

 

MOTION PASSED: Motion to enter closed session at 7:12 PM for the purpose of holding a strategy session regarding pending litigation as an executive session is clearly necessary for the protection of the public interest, passed with a motion by Allyson Slobotski and a second by Jeremy Dick.

The Board returned to Regular Session at 7:33 p.m.
