I.   Call Retreat to Order – Board President Allyson Slobotski called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m., noting the Open Meetings Act, a copy of which was located on the south wall of the Board Room, governed the meeting.

II. Public Forum – No members of the public spoke.

III.Budget Retreat to Discuss Budget Items – Dr. Plas provided the Board of Education with an introduction to school finance, reviewed the Building/Finance Committee goals, discussed all assumptions made within the budget projections, provided projected expenses for all accounts, presented projections over a three-year period, and discussed the Building/Finance Committee’s recommendations for revenues and expenditures. The Board of Education then reviewed information associated with the Special Building Fund and Bond Fund. The Board of Education asked questions and provided input on communication, future educational needs, and revenue/expenditure needs. Finally, the Board of Education provided guidance on how to proceed with the 2024-25 budget.

IV. Time and Date of Next Meeting – August 12, 2024, Joint City Council/BOE Meeting at 5:00 p.m. at the City Offices. Regular Board Meeting to follow at the Bennington District Board Room.

V.  Adjournment – President Slobotski adjourned the meeting at 7:21 p.m.

NOTICE: COPY OF OPEN MEETINGS ACT: The Board of Education makes available at least one current copy of the Open Meetings Act posted in the meeting room at a location accessible to members of the public. The Act is posted on the wall of the meeting room.
