I. Call Meeting to Order- President Allyson Slobotski called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m., noting the meeting is governed by the Open Meetings Act. The Board of Education makes available at least one current copy of the Open Meetings Act posted in the meeting room at a location accessible to members of the public.
II. Public Forum- One member of the public was present to speak.

July 2024 Personnel Notes- Certificated Staff Hire: Lyndsay Rahlfs, first grade teacher at Heritage Elementary, Shawn Keizer, high school science teacher at Bennington High School, Dalton Stodieck, middle school health teacher at Bennington South Middle School, Ryan Evans 0.5 FTE PE teacher at Pine Creek Elementary. Support Staff Hire: Cher Moore, front office receptionist at the District Office, Kim Ash, database manager at the District Office. Certificated Staff Resignations: Matt Malcom, PE teacher at Heritage. Classified Staff Resignations: Nate Olson, database manager at the District Office, Bonnie Corbin, front office receptionist at the District Office, Colleen Donahoe, paraprofessional at Stratford Elementary, Peter Camorgo, bus driver.

VII.D. Discuss, Consider, and Take Action to Approve Time Requirements of Mandatory Staff Trainings- To comply with the State’s language of “a reasonable amount as determined by each board”, and out of an abundance of caution, a resolution for the Board of Education was presented to approve those statutes that now have that language.
MOTION PASSED: Motion to approve the resolution outlining required staff trainings, as presented, during the 2024-2025 school year as reasonable and appropriate for the District, passed with a motion by Kara Neuverth and a second by Tim Dreessen. VII.E. Discuss, Consider, and Take Action on Curriculum and Personnel Proposals The Curriculum Committee met on June 10th to continue the process of determining which curriculum and personnel proposals to recommend for the 2024-25 school year.
MOTION PASSED: Motion to accept the recommendations by the Curriculum Committee for 2024-25 curriculum and personnel proposals #3 High School English Teacher, and #5 Dean of Students, as outlined in the June 10, 2024, Curriculum Committee Report and pending 2025-26 budget approval, passed with a motion by Kara Neuverth and a second by Jeremy Dick. VII.F. Discuss, Consider, and Take Action on Short and Long-Term Substitute Rates The BOE must approve the short- and long-term substitute rates for the upcoming school year. The Building/Finance Committee is recommending that both short- and long-term rates increase by $5 for the 2024-25 school year.

I. Call Meeting to Order- President Allyson Slobotski called the hearing to order at 6:00 p.m., noting the meeting is governed by the Open Meetings Act. The Board of Education makes available at least one current copy of the Open Meetings Act posted in the meeting room at a location accessible to members of the public.
II. Review of the amount of money collected from students pursuant to, and the use of waivers provided in, the student fee policies of the District for the 2024-2025 school year. The Bennington Public Schools’ Student Fee Fund had a beginning balance (9-1-23) of $36,627. The Student Fee Fund collected $12,418.39 in revenue and had $6,450.49 in expenditures leaving a current balance of $42,594.53.
III. Hold Public Hearing to discuss, consider, and receive input on the Student Fee Policy. The board is required to hold a public hearing to discuss, consider, and receive input on the District’s student fees policy. No members of the public were present to speak.
IV. Hold Public Hearing to discuss, consider, and receive input on the Parental Involvement Policy. The board is required to hold a public hearing to discuss, consider, and receive input on Parental Involvement policy. No members of the public were present to speak.
V. Hold Public Hearing to discuss, consider, and receive input on the Bullying Policy. State law requires school districts to develop and adopt a policy concerning bullying prevention and education for all students. This policy is subject to annual review. No members of the public were present to speak.
VI. Adjournment- Motion to adjourn the hearing at 6:03 p.m. made by Tim Dreessen, seconded by Jeremy Dick. All in favor.
