Applications Still Being Accepted for Douglas County Juvenile Court Bench
The application window for a vacancy on the Separate Juvenile Court of Douglas County was extended after the unexpected retirement of a second judge.
Applications to replace retired judges Douglas F. Johnson, who resigned Aug. 31, and Elizabeth G. Crnkovich, who resigned Sept. 11, are being accepted through 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Supreme Court Justice John R. Freudenberg said that the Judicial Nominating Commission for Separate Juvenile Court Judges in Douglas County will hold a public hearing to consider both vacancies on Monday, Nov. 4, starting at 9:30 a.m. in Courtroom 408 of the Douglas County Courthouse, 1701 Farnam St.
Juvenile court officials worked with the Nebraska Administrative Office of the Courts to seek relief following Crnkovich’s departure, which left the court “all hands on deck,” according to court administrator Raymond J. Curtis II.
