To The Victor Goes The Spoils

Published by jason@omahadail... on Mon, 02/26/2024 - 4:00am

I’ve always been a bit of a history buff. Many times my traveling companions have humored me as I pulled off the side of the road to read an historical marker, or stop at some hidden time-worn gem I found as I drove the backroads of America.

If The People Lead The Leaders Will Follow

Published by jason@omahadail... on Mon, 02/19/2024 - 4:00am

On one hand I have to give Governor Pillen a lot of credit. It takes guts for a politician to admit that they are wrong these days and change course. Though he never uttered the word, Governor Pillen admitted he was wrong when he decided to enroll the state of Nebraska into a Federal Governments program to help feed children during the summer months.

Double-Edged Oath

Published by josie@omahadail... on Mon, 02/12/2024 - 7:32am

I had an interesting random thought the other day — I doubt it will go anywhere politically but I think it’s a valid point — that I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on the matter.

So, hear me out.

Healthcare Limbo

Published by josie@omahadail... on Mon, 02/05/2024 - 11:26am

I’ve been out of the loop for a while. You see I’ve been battling bladder cancer. On January 12th the day of that awful blizzard when temperatures dropped to fifteen below zero, I was on the operating table having my bladder and prostate removed.

Three Things Nebraskans Can Count On: Sandhill Cranes, Husker Hopes, Property Tax Debates

Published by josie@omahadail... on Mon, 01/15/2024 - 5:00am

As we start a new year there are some things that Nebraskans can always count on. The Sandhill Cranes will return to the Platte River Valley, the Husker faithful will swear that this is the year we win the National Championship and the Governor and State Senators will try to do something to lower property taxes.

Has A Mass Exodus Begun?

Published by josie@omahadail... on Mon, 01/01/2024 - 5:00am

A recent census report is out, and it doesn’t look too good for the state. It appears that Nebraska may indeed not be for everyone after all. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the trend of more people leaving the state than coming into Nebraska is not only continuing but growing. Since 2010, the number of people with a bachelor’s degree or more leaving verses those with the same education levels entering the state has increased every year fostering the term “brain drain”.

Let’s Do The Research

Published by jason@omahadail... on Mon, 12/11/2023 - 3:00am

By now you should know that George Santos has been expelled from Congress. And I’m sure you know that he is only the 6th member to have ever been expelled. That story has been covered extensively.

“Wait Till Next Year”

Published by Nikki Palmer on Mon, 12/04/2023 - 1:00am

That’s the battle cry of sports fans everywhere whenever their season falls short of championship expectations. And once again, Nebraska football fans find themselves sitting on the sidelines waiting for next year.
