It's not often that the idea to become a pilot hits someone as they jump out of a plane a few thousand feet above the ground. For Lana Huetson, it made absolute sense as she leapt out of the plane during her first - and only - sky diving experience.

Having never flown on a commercial jet, Huetson's first flight was on a small plane.

The senior aviation major at the University of Nebraska-Omaha fulfilled a dream, only to have an epiphany as she parachuted back to earth.

This is what democracy looks like, the young woman, wearing Native American regalia, chanted amid a sea of people of all ages, backgrounds and ethnicities, gathered among one of Omaha’s parks and major thoroughfares.

But their voices were unified once again as an estimated 8 million people in more than 3,300 rallies across all 50 states, and many cities across the globe, took part in the third “No Kings” protest, held within the last eight months, since President Donald J. Trump re-took his oath of office – by law, pledging to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.

Growing up in a military family, it wasn't that Scott Wood was expected to follow suit; rather it was his choice of military branch that may have rankled a few elders.

Wood's father enjoyed a career in the Army National Guard. Others in the family served in the United States Air Force. But, the Upstate New Yorker decided the oceans of the world were calling him, so he opted to serve in the Navy.

Wood spent four years as a Master-at-arms, the Navy's version of military police. He originally enlisted as a Sea Bee, planning to work heavy construction.

Staring at the brightly colored ball lying in his path, Brian Brigham pulls back his club and swings forward, hitting his ball, which slightly pushes the other out of the way. With a clear view, Brigham then taps his ball through the metal arch. Welcome to the competition with the Omaha Croquet Club.

She emigrated from Russia to Minnesota, fresh after graduating college, with scant money to her name – to no doubt achieve the American dream.

At that point, a law career wasn’t even visible on the horizon, but she had the drive to achieve – wherever the journey would take her.

Today, the mother of two and U.S. Air Force veteran, now guides others on their career path.
