Lawmakers’ Road Trip Pushes Airport-Related Change To Nebraska Constitution

LINCOLN — A bipartisan trio of Nebraska lawmakers traversed Husker land this week touting an air travel-related ballot measure as a way the state can ramp up new business and talent.

Amendment 1, which Nebraskans will vote on Nov. 8, would open a gate for cities and counties with airports to spend public funds to expand commercial flight offerings.

Patrick O’Donnell, Nation’s Longest-Serving Clerk Of The Legislature, Plans To Retire

LINCOLN – Patrick O’Donnell, the longtime clerk of the Nebraska Legislature, announced Tuesday that he’s retiring at the end of the year.

O’Donnell, 73, is currently the longest-serving clerk of a state legislature in the nation, having held the post since 1978.

Gubernatorial candidate and Senator Carol Blood held the seventh of her town hall meetings with the public at the Firefighters Union Hall in Omaha last Tuesday as part of her boots-on-the-ground campaign in the lead up to the November election. Handing out campaign pamphlets, mock-up newspapers made by her team, and organizational charts outlining the Nebraska government, she had a personal and open chat with her constituents.

In Attempt To Curb Gas Prices, Biden Will Release Oil From Emergency Reserve

President Joe Biden will authorize the release of 15 million barrels of oil from the nation’s reserves on Wednesday, part of an effort to lower gas prices as polling shows concerns over inflation are likely to hurt Democrats in congressional elections next month.

Gov. Ricketts Announces Key Staff Transition

LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts announced that a key member of his cabinet will be transitioning to a role outside state government.  Lauren Hill Kintner has served as a member of the Governor’s cabinet as Director of the Governor’s Policy and Research Office for nearly 24 years.  Throughout her tenure, Kintner served as lead policy advisor and legal counsel to Governor Ricketts and his two predecessors, Governors Dave Heineman and Mike Johanns.
