Biden Faces Protest Over His Support For Israel During White House Meeting

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden has faced protests over the conflict in Gaza all over the country, but this week he confronted one inside the White House itself.

The occasion was a private meeting on Tuesday where Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and national security leaders could hear from Muslim Americans about their concerns involving the war between Israel and Hamas.

Gagging Donald Trump

Back in 2020, the daughter of the judge presiding over Donald Trump's hush money trial in New York worked for a digital advertising firm that was involved in then Sen. Kamala Harris' presidential campaign. According to Trump, that made her a Trump hater and meant that her father should not be permitted to try the case.

GUANGZHOU, China (AP) — Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen arrived in China on Thursday for five days of meetings in a nation determined to avoid open conflict with the United States, yet the world's two largest economies still appear to be hashing out the rules on how to compete against each other.

LINCOLN — Gov. Jim Pillen’s property tax plan limped forward Tuesday after its chief sponsor agreed to strip out its most controversial component: a proposed 1-cent increase in state sales taxes.

The bill advanced from first-round debate, 28-12, after lawmakers invoked cloture to shut off a filibuster.
