Magnolia Mother’s Trust Marks A History-Making Three Cycles Of Paying Black Mothers $1,000 A Month

The Magnolia Mother’s Trust is now the longest-running guaranteed income program in the United States. But the program, which gives Black mothers in Jackson, Mississippi, $1,000 a month for one year, no strings attached, was never meant to last forever.

The Hope Center For Kids “Summer Of Growth And Opportunity”

Wednesday, August 3rd marked the culmination of the Metro Omaha Optimist’s 14th Year of partnering with The Hope Center for Kids. Our “Summer of Growth and Opportunity” this year provided the youth with educational and fun field trips to Glacier Creek Preserve, Schramm Park & Aquarium, Bellevue Berry Farm, the Children’s Museum, and Zorinsky Water Park.  The youth earned these trips by participating in the Hope Center’s summer programs.

Six months have passed since the Beijing Winter Olympics, and we are two years away from the 2024 Summer Games to be held in Paris. But as the world gets itself amped up for the best athletes in the world to show what they have worked so hard for, it’s important to take a step back and examine just how much work and cost goes into the cities that end up hosting the games.

Omaha Mobile Stage Hosts Free Youth Talent Show Modeled After Good Fellows Show Wagon

Omaha, Neb.—Registration is open for three September dates of the Omaha Mobile Stage Youth Talent Show, modeled after the city’s beloved Good Fellows Show Wagon.

The talent show is open to youth ages 3 to 18 and all performing arts disciplines. Performances are limited to 4 minutes and are judged on talent, originality, and showmanship.

United We Walk Celebrates Omaha’s Diversity

United Way of the Midlands Awards $310,000 to No More Empty Pots Grant to Fund Community Harvest

No More Empty Pots is pleased to announce it was recently awarded $310,000 in total from United Way of the Midlands (UWM), including $60,000 from the Community Care Fund and $250,000 from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) fund granted through UWM on behalf of the City of Omaha (federal award number SLFRP0230).
