The Endless Campaign

Published by maggie@omahadai... on Wed, 10/23/2024 - 6:00am

"Cat Eats Fox" was Matt Drudge's headline after Kamala Harris' much touted "interview" with Fox News anchor Bret Baier. It wasn't really an interview. Melissa Neuenfeldt listens to Wayne Birkholtz discuss his medical needs and what medication he takes on Sept. 9, 2024. Neuenfeldt met Birkholtz outside his car where he’s currently living. As a nurse with HEAL Omaha, which provides healthcare to Omaha’s unsheltered homeless population, she hopes helping manage their health can create a clearer path toward housing stability.
(Chris Bowling / Flatwater Free Press)

The man bowed his head and breathed slowly.

Ba-dump. Ba-dump.

As Wayne Birkholtz’s heart pumped, the nurse listened to the rhythm through the stethoscope placed on the 67-year-old’s tanned forearm.

Once Democracy Is Gone, It’s Gone

Published by maggie@omahadai... on Wed, 10/16/2024 - 6:00am
