Judge: Anti-Immigration Group's Environment Suit Can Proceed

BOSTON (AP) — An anti-immigration group has scored a legal victory in its federal lawsuit arguing the Biden administration violated environmental law when it halted construction of the U.S. southern border wall and sought to undo other immigration policies by former President Donald Trump.

Nebraska Lawyers Not Going To Pot, But They Can Invest In Medical Cannabis Operations, An Advisory Panel Says

LINCOLN — Marijuana may be illegal in Nebraska, but a lawyer from the Cornhusker State is free to invest in cannabis operations in states where it is legal, a state ethics board is advising.

Pursuant to Standing Rule 11.B of the Nebraska Paralegal Association, the following is a slate of officers to be elected at the September Membership Meeting to be held in conjunction with the Fall Seminar on September 14, 2022.  The members listed as candidates have accepted the nominations.  Nominations will also be accepted from the floor for all offices during the meeting.  Voting for contested elections will occur after the meeting via Survey Monkey.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Two of the Supreme Court justices who disagree most often on the outcomes of cases say they both still try hard to persuade each other, and sometimes succeed. Justice Sonia Sotomayor and Justice Amy Coney Barrett made the comments in a pretaped conversation made public for the first time Thursday evening.

Key Parts Of Us Laws Are Hard For The Public To Find And Read

It happens in court cases from time to time: Lawyers and judges discussing the meaning of a law can’t access the text they need to review.

It happened in a federal court in Rhode Island in 2004 and in the Indiana Supreme Court in 2017.
