Several National Night Out Events Set This Evening This Evening
This evening is National Night Out, a national campaign that promotes police and community partnerships with a variety of neighborhood events.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that National Night Out helps build safe and engaged communities through encouraging people to know their neighbors, local business and local law enforcement agencies.
“National Night Out is an opportunity to have law enforcement and community interactions in a positive environment,” the office said. “Also, the night allows law enforcement and the community to build relationships and further the sense of community.”
In addition to neighborhood events, the Bellevue Police Department will hold a party at Everett Park from 6 to 8:30 p.m. with hamburgers, hot dogs, bounce houses, clowns and a chance to see police equipment and vehicles up close. The Highlander Omaha will hold a block party from 5 to 7 p.m.
The Papillion Police Department will hold a National Night Out event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Papillion’s City Park. Council Bluffs also will host a community gathering at Lake Manawa North Shore Park from 5:30 to 8 p.m. featuring the Council Bluffs Police Department, Council Bluffs Fire Department, Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office, Pottawattamie County Emergency Management Agency, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement and Lifenet Air Methods.
