Sarpy County Economic Development Corp. Rebrands
The Sarpy County Economic Development Corporation announced a new name last week to reflect its success and mission.
The Sarpy County arm of the Greater Omaha Chamber Economic Development Partnership is now known as Grow Sarpy, which recognizes the growth and expansion of the business community.
“The potential and opportunity here is amazing,” Andrew Rainbolt, executive director of Grow Sarpy, said in a news release. “We wanted to capture that excitement in our new name, look and materials. Sarpy County is Nebraska’s fastest growing county. We’re here to work with local business, government and community to keep that momentum going. That’s how we continue to Grow Sarpy.”
The Greater Omaha Chamber says Sarpy County has landed 32 projects since 2013 that add about $1.1 billion to the local economy each year through 3,075 jobs.
The increase in economic activity generated by those jobs also support an additional 2,152 workers, according to an economic impact analysis by the chamber.
The projects also generated $5.7 billion in construction activity and more than 50,000 jobs in the construction industry.
Ann Williams, vice president at HDR and board president of Grow Sarpy, said staff and volunteers have landed projects that have transformed the county.
“This name change is a celebration of the success of our region and the growth that so many partners have worked hard to achieve, Williams said in a release.
Ryan Saunders, superintendent of the Springfield Platteview Community Schools, said that the projects brought in by Grow Sarpy have created a significant financial activity to the school district. The impact of the projects also extends to tourism and recreation growth.
“Not only have they helped with business growth in our area, but they have also been a valued resource to help us connect the dots with key community partners,” Saunders said in a release. “We are thankful for the invaluable relationship we maintain with Grow Sarpy and their professional, hard-working team.”
