Offutt Air Force Base Reinstates Mask Requirement
Offutt Air Force Base has announced it has reinstated a mask mandate, requiring all employees, contractors and visitors to wear a face mask indoors.
The requirement applies to everyone, even those who have been vaccinated for COVID-19. The military base outside Bellevue said in a social media post that the new requirement came from the Defense Secretary’s office and was triggered by rising coronavirus cases in Sarpy County.
Additionally, those who are not vaccinated must maintain a distance of 6 feet from others, as outlined in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
A federal health official said the country could overcome mask mandates if people accepted responsibility for combating the coronavirus.
“I can’t tell you the depth of frustration that Americans are feeling who’ve done everything they can, they’ve done it right, to know that now we’ve got to go back to wearing masks,” U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said Monday. “I don’t blame folks for asking why again on masks.”
