OBA Starts ‘Solo School’ Series for Solo Practitioners
The Omaha Bar Association has created a new series of videos designed for lawyers who choose to chart their own path as solo practitioners.
OBA Executive Director Dave Sommers hopes the series will become a useful resource for attorneys who are thinking of starting a solo practice.
“The Omaha Bar Association is laser-focused on providing resources, programming and support for all attorneys, no matter the area of practice or size of firm,” Sommers said in an interview with The Daily Record. “One area that doesn’t have as much exposure to law students as they consider their career is solo practice.”
On-campus interviews focus on large firms and corporate positions, Sommers said. He wants the OBA Solo School to “serve as one part of the bridge that convinces those well-suited for solo practice to give it a full consideration as their career path.”
Building and maintaining a strong solo practitioner community is “critically important to the health and well-being of our Omaha-area legal community,” Sommers said.
There are currently three Solo School videos available on the OBA website. The first two installments feature interviews with Omaha area lawyers who have their own solo practices, while the third video features a virtual roundtable discussion with business professionals whose work intersects with the legal community, including marketing tips and practice management software.
Additional material will be uploaded to the Solo School website in the coming months and all Solo School videos are eligible for CLE credit.
