New U.S. Citizens Take Oath of Allegiance
America got just a little bigger earlier this month.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services welcomed 32 new naturalized citizens during a ceremony Oct. 11 at the Roman L. Hruska Federal Courthouse.
The new citizens originated from 21 different countries: Afghanistan, Benin, Bhutan, Botswana, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burma, China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras, Iraq, Kenya, Mexico, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Venezuela and Vietnam.
Family and friends attended the ceremony as U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan Bazis administered the Oath of Allegiance to the new citizens.
“This is my favorite part of the job,” Bazis said.
