Nebraska Opens Trade Office in Germany
The Nebraska Department of Economic Development is opening a new trade office in Germany under the leadership of the former CEO of agricultural machinery manufacturer CLAAS.
Theo W. Freye was appointed earlier this month by Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts to lead the Nebraska Center Germany, which joins Japan as the state’s second international office.
“With his track record of success leading CLAAS North America in Omaha, Theo Freye has invaluable experience cultivating partnerships between American and German businesses,” Ricketts. “Theo will be an excellent representative for Nebraska in Germany.”
Freye spent 34 years at CLAAS and brought its North American division to the Omaha area, which has since become the company’s headquarters for the continent. He was chairman and president of CLAAS North America and speaker of the $4.5 billion family-owned Germany firm’s executive board.
The Nebraska Department of Economic Development operates an international business development team to promote investment in the state and the growth of Nebraska businesses globally. Freye will represent Nebraska in Germany as a place for business, according to a news release.
“We are incredibly pleased to have Theo Freye join the Nebraska Department of Economic Development to lead Nebraska Center Germany at a time when the state is increasingly involved in the country,” said Anthony Goins, director of the state department. “With Theo’s assistance, we hope to capture the momentum from Gov. Ricketts’ November 2019 trade mission to Germany.”
