Nebraska Business Hall of Fame To Induct Three Members
Three inductees will join the Nebraska Business Hall of Fame Thursday at the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s annual meeting in Lincoln.
The chamber and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s College of Business will honor Richard R. “Dick” Bell, former chairman and CEO of HDR of Omaha; William W. “Bill” Marshall III, former president of Five Points Bank in Grand Island; and Roland A. Temme, founder, owner and CEO of TMCO Inc. of Lincoln.
“These leaders embody Nebraska ingenuity and determination, exceptional business acumen, and heartfelt commitment to their teams and communities,” chamber president Bryan Slone said. “We look forward to celebrating their achievements with them and their families.”
Bell joined 40 HDR employees and McCarthy Capital Group in 1996 to buyback the company from a French firm and move it back to employee ownership.
The Omaha company is the seventh largest engineering and architecture firm in the U.S. and the sixth largest U.S. company completely owned by its employees.
Marshall founded Five Points Bank with his father and business partners in 1971.
It has grown into the sixth largest Nebraska-based holding company and one of the largest banks in the state with over $1.6 billion in assets. Marshall died in January 2016.
Temme founded Total Manufacturing Co., or TMCO Inc., in 1974.
It is a one-stop, concept-to-completion metal manufacturer that began making parts for cassette tape duplication machines.
The company has grown to more than 175 employees across machining, fabrication, welding, assembly and powder coating.
The over 120 business leaders in the hall of fame were nominated by people in the business community, associations and academia. The chamber and college established the program in 1992.
“We are fortunate to have such a strong history of civic-minded business leaders in Nebraska,” Slone said. “Celebrating their successes each year means celebrating their important role in creating strong communities and decades of good jobs.”
