Judicial Resources Commission Holds Hearing on Friday
The Judicial Resources Commission will hold its annual meeting, which includes a public hearing, on Friday at 1 p.m. at the State Capitol in Lincoln.
Proceedings will be conducted in-person with a WebEx virtual conferencing option.
The commission will receive in-person testimony during the hearing and via email by Tuesday to Dawn.Mussmann@nebraska.gov.
Hearing topics include:
• Whether a judicial vacancy exists in the office of the District Court, 10th Judicial District, due to the retirement of Judge Stephen R. Illingworth effective Nov. 30, and if so whether to recommend a primary office location.
• Whether a new judgeship is appropriate in any judicial district.
• Whether a reduction in judgeships is appropriate in any judicial district.
• Whether the judicial district boundaries or the number of judicial districts should be changed for the district or county courts.
• Whether, based on an examination of current caseload statistics, the Judicial Resources Commission should make any appropriate recommendations for the more balanced use of existing judicial resources.
