Irish Dancers, Buddhist Lions Entertain at ILC Fundraiser
The Immigrant Legal Center called its recent 2021 Food Truck World Tour fundraiser a great success.
The annual event, held for the first time at Aksarben Village’s Stinson Park, drew a record crowd Sept. 26.
Tickets for the event sold out and the nonprofit legal aid organization exceeded its $20,000 goal, ILC Communications Coordinator San Juana Paramo said. Eight food trucks — representing diverse cultures and cuisine — lined the outskirts of the park while entertainment took place beneath the Aksarben Spire.
While they sampled African, Creole, Cajun, Mexican, Venezuelan and Asian dishes, attendees were entertained by Irish dancers from Dowds Irish Dance Academy, the Linh Quang Lion Dance Troupe, Omaha Pipes and Drums and Mariachi Rey Azteca.
The fundraiser will help the ILC provide critical legal services to, advocacy and education for Nebraska and southwest Iowa’s low-income immigrant communities.
