Iowa Small Claims Petitions Added to Free Online Forms
The Iowa Judicial Branch has expanded its offering of interactive forms available to the public with the addition of small claims forms.
The forms required for small claims legal action are filled out automatically as the user answers a series of questions about their claim.
On the website, small claims petitioners will be able to create an account, record their responses and complete the questionnaire using a computer or smartphone. Once the questionnaire has been filled out, the user can print the forms, sign, and then electronically file the petition with the court.
The interactive forms are designed to increase access to justice for citizens who cannot or choose not to hire legal representation.
Previously, the Iowa Judicial Branch had released a series of interactive forms to assist with divorces that do not involve minor or dependent adult children.
The Iowa Judicial Branch has partnered with LawHelp Interactive to provide this service to Iowans free of charge.
The online interactive forms can be found at bit.ly/3eu9yz1.
