Initiative Plans To Collect Nebraska Veterans’ Stories to Add to Library of Congress Archive
Lincoln – A volunteer initiative seeks to collect and preserve the stories of Nebraska veterans.
The new initiative – named “Sorghum Cares: Preserving Our Heritage. Building Our Future.” – is a partnership between the Nebraska Sorghum Producers Association and Nebraska Department of Veterans’ Affairs, with support from Humanities Nebraska, according to a Nebraska Governor’s Office news release.
The Nebraska Sorghum Producers Association said it plans to incorporate the initiative into its regular monthly outreach across the state. Interviews will be conducted by volunteers at Nebraska veterans’ homes as well as by appointment, and the interviews will be archived at the Library of Congress through its Veterans History Project.
To schedule an interview, or to volunteer, contact the Nebraska Sorghum Producers Association at 402-471-3552 or send an email to sorghum.board@nebraska.gov.
