Filing Deadline Past for Tax Reports; LLP Deadline Soon
The Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office is notifying businesses the deadline for occupation tax reports has passed, and late businesses have until April 15 to avoid being delinquent.
Notices were sent to domestic and foreign business entities that are past due in submitting reports, the Secretary of State’s Office said in a release. Letters also were sent at the beginning of the year to remind corporations of the March 1 deadline.
“All reports and fees must be received no later than April 15 in order not to be considered delinquent,” Secretary of State Robert Evnen said. “Beyond that point, domestic entities face the possibility of being administratively dissolved and foreign corporations could have their certificate of authority revoked, preventing them from doing business in the state.”
Tax reports are required to be filed biennially by domestic and foreign business corporations and annually by limited liability partnerships.
“We sent reminders to LLP entities. A second notice will go out in April to those LLPs that have not responded,” Evnen said.
The deadline for LLPs is April 1. The office considers reports to be delinquent beginning June 1.
Report can be filed online at sos.nebraska.gov, mailed or filed in person at the Business Division office in downtown Lincoln.
