Early voting ballot applications were mailed by the Douglas County Election Commission last week for the upcoming primary.
Applications were sent last Friday to about 40,785 voters in Douglas County who placed themselves on the early voting request. This was the first mailing for the program, which launched in July 2018.
According to the commission, the mailings are the size of a postcard and printed on green cardstock. Voters must complete and sign the application portion of the mailing and return it to receive a ballot by mail.
Ballots will not be automatically sent to voters, the commission cautioned. In person returns can be made at the new Douglas County Election Commission officer or its drop box at 12220 West Center Road, which is located near the Nobbies Parties at Bel Air Plaza.
Early voting ballots will be mailed beginning Monday, April 6. Voters who want a ballot in early April are encouraged to submit their applications soon.
A written request for an early voting ballot may be made by mail using the form available at votedouglascounty.com. Applications are due by Friday, May 1. Ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12.
