Council Bluffs Called ‘Epicenter of This New Digital Era’
A new data center campus is underway in Council Bluffs, designed to serve large cloud computing companies globally.
CyrusOne, a data center REIT, held a ground-breaking ceremony at 4700 Gifford Road last Tuesday. The site, south of the Council Bluffs Recycling Center, is near a Google data center campus.
The company says the site will be ready by fall 2020. It will span roughly 60,000 square feet and be available for cloud customers.
“In many ways, Council Bluffs, with its location on the 41st parallel, is the epicenter of this new digital era,” said CyrusOne CEO Gary Wojtaszek. “The world’s leading cloud companies continue to invest billions of dollars along this parallel across multiple states and planting a flag in Council Bluffs will allow our customers to capitalize on this unique part of the United States fiber network.”
The Dallas-based company has 45 data centers worldwide and has Fortune 20 to Fortune 1000 companies as its clients. The real estate investment trust offers both build-to-suit data centers and colocation solutions, where several companies share a data center.
“CyrusOne is a respected leader within the data center industry,” said Council Bluffs Mayor Matt Walsh. “We are ecstatic that CyrusOne has chosen Council Bluffs as their most recent location for business expansion.”
