Careerockit Now Accepting Applications
Applications are being accepted from educators and businesses for the fourth annual Careerockit by the Greater Omaha Chamber.
The no-cost learning initiative pairs up businesses across the metropolitan area with students and young adults interested in local career opportunities. The chamber said the goal is to build Greater Omaha’s talent pipeline and ensure the region can continue to meet its future talent needs.
The program was launched in 2017. Careerockit 2020 will be held the week of Feb. 20, 2020. It will include thousands of career experiences, such as tours, hands-on activities, presentations, workshops and demonstrations.
“An effort of this scale is only possible with countless partners and supporters,” said chamber president and CEO David Brown. “If you haven’t participated in Careerockit before, there’s no better time to get on board.”
Educators can register by Oct. 19 at careerockit.com/educator-registration. Last year saw involvement from 20 school districts and 212 employers for 21,488 career experiences.
“Educators tell us they appreciate that Careerockit helps them connect their classroom curriculum to real-world applications,” said Maggie Fisher, manager of talent at the chamber. “Employers have the reward of seeing their teams engage in something that contributes to our community and inspires our future workforce.”
Employers can register by Nov. 30 at careerockit.com/business-registration. Career experiences should be unique to the host company and give students a glimpse into what everyday life at the organization is like.
