2 New Clerk Magistrates Appointed in 7th District
Two clerk magistrates recently started their positions in Nebraska’s 7th Judicial District.
Kristina Sehi began her duties as clerk magistrate of the Pierce County Court on Nov. 1. Leah Buhrman took the office of clerk magistrate in Madison County Court on Nov. 4. Both courts are in the 7th District, which also spans Antelope, Cuming, Knox, Stanton and Wayne counties.
Sehi replaces Clerk Magistrate Debra Theisen, who retired after 39 years of service to Pierce County Court. Buhrman replaces Clerk Magistrate Lori Bohn, who retired after 41 years.
“Kristina and Leah are great representatives of the next generation of clerk magistrates who bring both court experience and a new vision to their positions,” Trial Court Services Director Sheryl Connolly said in a release. “While the retirements of two magistrates with combined service of 80 years leave big shoes to fill, Kristina and Leah’s enthusiasm and leadership will ably take Madison and Pierce county courts into 2021 and beyond.”
Clerk magistrates supervise, assign, and direct the work of all staff within the county court under the general direction of the presiding county judge. The clerk magistrate position carries a high level of responsibility for the people, paperwork, finances, and records of the court. They are responsible for ensuring the efficiency of their courts’ administrative functions and for evaluating and implementing potential procedural changes.
Sehi and Buhrman serve in the 7th District with fellow Clerk Magistrates Katherine Armbruster of Stanton County; Betty Boggs of Knox County; Sandra Meyer of Cuming County; Linda Mitchell of Antelope County; and Ashley Siebrandt of Wayne County.
Judges Michael Long, Ross Stoffer, and Donna Taylor direct the operation of the county courts in the 7th Judicial District.
