With everything that is going on in the world today, it reminds me of my youth.

I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s. As a Boomer, I was alive and can remember the years when a corrupt president had us involved in an unpopular war. I recall Americans wearing WIN buttons on their jackets. WIN stood for Whip Inflation Now as food costs kept going up and gas prices soared. I saw major protests in the street and threats of nuclear war.

So, in some ways, all that is happening is as Yogi Berra would say, Déjà vu all over again.

State Senator Kathleen Kauth fascinates me. I wonder what happened to her in the past that makes her so fixated on transgender people and bathrooms that she’ll derail other important legislation.

Her attempts to pass a stand-alone law on the transgender issue have so far failed, but she says she’s coming back with it again next year and going to fight for it even stronger.

I’ve never met Senator Kauth. But I have spoken with people who have, and they say that she seems to be an intelligent, thoughtful woman except for that one issue.

I wonder what Dwight Eisenhower would think if he were alive today.

For that matter, I wonder if I got a hundred people in a room who were all under the age of 40 and I asked them if they even knew who Dwight David Eisenhower was, how many would know.

You’re probably wondering why I would wonder such a thing. After all, while historians appreciate all he accomplished, when the average American thinks of the great presidents, his name doesn’t normally rise to the top of the list.

But maybe we should give his legacy a second look.

I’ve got to stop watching the news before I go to bed. It’s giving me weird dreams.

Before falling asleep the other night, I read the bizarre story of the former head of the Department of Homeland Security’s husband. It’s been revealed that Kristi Noem’s spouse, Bryon had posted pictures of himself with fake boobs and a pouting face.

As I started to doze off with that image in my head, I had a dream.
